		<description>I&#039;ve had similar issues with various LiveCD distros and old/ancient video cards.  Well my issue is that you generally need cards with 3D accel. and that are supported by frame buffer.  I think you&#039;ll find a permanent install to work better and means that any tweaks you have to make don&#039;t have to be done each time you restart it.  Besides there&#039;s no reason why a USB mouse shouldn&#039;t work anyway, so it&#039;s probably something particular with Knoppix.

While a lot of this seems odd, while Linux is supposed to be king of older hardware, it&#039;s still possible to get it running on anything as old as a 486 (or 386 but who&#039;d want to?).  Distributions like Debian will have no problems with this, though I suspect that newer more user-friendly distros will have problems as they try to take advantage of modern hardware out of the box.  Still give Ubuntu a go, it&#039;s a good distro (and based on Debian, which makes it even better :D).</description>
